Stepping In Front of the Lens: Why I Photograph Myself

Even as a boudoir photographer, I need the reminder sometimes - to slow down, to take up space, to see myself. Photographing my own boudoir session was equal parts vulnerable and empowering, and it brought me back to the heart of why I do this work. Because confidence isn’t just for my clients. It’s for me, too. And it’s something we all deserve to feel - no matter what season we're in.

As a boudoir photographer, I spend most of my time behind the camera encouraging other women to be bold, take up space, and see their beauty through my lens. But every now and then, I have to remind myself of something important:

I need that reminder too.

So I photograph myself.

Not because I always feel my best. Not because everything in my life feels perfectly aligned. But because I need to reconnect with the woman I am outside of the chaos, the to-do lists, and the everyday hustle. Because confidence isn’t something you have or don’t have - it’s something you practice.

And standing in front of the camera is one of the most powerful ways I know to practice that.

I talk all the time about how transformative a boudoir session can be - how healing it is to see yourself fully, without filters or judgment. So it only feels right to walk the walk and step into the light myself sometimes. And honestly? It was uncomfortable at first. But then… it was freeing.

Photographing myself reminds me of everything I want my clients to feel:

  • That you can be powerful and soft at the same time.

  • That your body is worthy of being seen and celebrated.

  • That confidence isn’t a look - it’s a choice.

These photos aren't just for marketing. They're for me. They're my way of practicing what I preach and holding myself accountable to feel what I want my clients to feel.

If you're on the fence about booking your own boudoir session - I get it. I’ve been there. But I promise, you won’t regret choosing to show up for yourself.

You’re Still You

Pregnancy changes you - but it doesn’t erase you. You’re still strong. Still radiant. You’re still you.

Pregnancy the second time around carries a quiet kind of strength. It carries the wisdom of what’s to come and the strength of what’s already been survived. For this beautiful mama, her maternity boudoir session wasn’t just about documenting a baby bump - it was about honoring the woman she’s become.

This was her second pregnancy. A different journey than the first - more knowing, more grounded, and maybe a little more chaotic (because kids, let’s be honest). But also more intentional. She came into this session wanting to feel beautiful, celebrated, and deeply seen. Because even when you’re growing another human, you deserve to feel hot because you are.

We kept things moody, intimate, and soft - letting the light play on her curves and the quiet power in her body speak for itself. Every photo is a love letter to this phase: the anticipation, the changes, the quiet moments between kicks, and the fire that grows in a mother who’s done this before and chooses to show up for herself this time.

Because motherhood isn’t just about giving - it’s about holding space for yourself in the in-between. And that’s exactly what this session was: a pause to remember that she is still in there, powerful and radiant as ever.

To all the mamas - whether it’s your first, your fifth, or you're somewhere in between - you deserve to be celebrated in every season.

Want to document your own journey? Lets do it!

Tina’s Empowerment Session

She came in feeling nervous. She left feeling unstoppable.

There’s something sacred about the moment a woman allows herself to be seen.

Tina's boudoir session wasn’t just about photos. It was about coming home to herself. From the moment she walked into the studio, I could feel the quiet nerves under the surface... but I could also sense something stronger rising up in her.

Something brave.
Something powerful.
Something ready.

We started the day with professional hair and makeup (always included in the session fee), giving her a moment to breathe and shift out of “everyday mode” and into something deeper. As she settled in, the laughter came. The stories came. And with every click of the shutter, so did the confidence.

By the time she saw her images, her entire posture had changed. I watched her see herself in a way she hadn’t in years - not posed, not polished, not for anyone else… just her. Strong. Feminine. Free.

Boudoir is not about being sexy for someone else.
It’s about claiming your power in your own skin.

And Tina did just that.

She left with more than just photos.
She left with proof. Proof that she is so much more than what she sees in the mirror on an ordinary day.
